Prof. Nicola Massarotti, PhD

M.Sc. in 1996 with honours in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cassino, Italy; Ph.D in 2001 from Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Wales Swansea, UK. From 1998 to 2003, Assistant professor at the University of Cassino, Italy. From 2003 till 2006 he served as Associate professor of Applied thermodynamics and thermal science at the same University. From 2007 to 2015, he has hold the same position at the University of Napoli "Parthenope", and since 2016 he is Full Professor. Prof. Massarotti is head of LaTEC (Laboratory of Thermo-fluid dynamics, Energy and HVAC Systems). His research interests focus on heat transfer, numerical methods, energy conversion systems and thermo-fluid-dynamic measurements. His work concerns the development of FEM based algorithms for the solution of heat and fluid flow, and their application to model reacting flows in energy conversion systems based on the use of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. He has also been involved in studies concerning the numerical simulation of the measurement methods for the evaluation of the environmental impact of waste-to-energy plants, and geothermal energy conversion systems. Prof Massarotti is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Association of Chartered Engineers in Naples. He is also member of American Association of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Co-Chair of series of International Conference on Computational Methods for Thermal Problems (ThermaComp).
